Pregnancy Induced Hypertension

Mathabelo Putsoane
Amongst the tests that are performed to pregnant moms during their antenatal care clinic visits include blood pressure (BP) monitoring tests. The purpose of this test is to determine if moms BP is still under control. This is because a small number of pregnant women who previously did not have hypertension can develop increased BP after 20 weeks of pregnancy with no protein in urine a condition called pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH) (aka gestational hypertension).
