‘My son took his life due to our divorce’

Depression is often described as an intense feeling of sadness, hopelessness, and anger or frustration that lasts much longer, such as for weeks, months, or years. These feelings make it hard for one to function as they normally would participate in their usual activities. It is considered a weakness in the Sesotho culture when a male shows signs of depression which is why most parents ignore their children’s suffering till they feel hopeless and resort to suicide.
