The messages carried are instructions telling the recipient to perform certain tasks without question, like the General instructing junior troopers. These tasks may be carried out over a long period of time (such as growth), may be cyclical (menstruation) fight or flight response (adrenaline) and many other varieties of activities. They help regulate bodily functions such as:

  • Heart rate
  • Sleep cycles
  • Reproductive cycles and growth
  • Mood and stress levels
  • Metabolism and appetite
