Technology is a continually developing field and as our society moves closer to gender equality, women are striving to build a stronger presence in a traditionally male-dominated tech industry. Women have borne the brunt of being the weaker sex throughout history and countless women rate themselves low and consider their effectiveness as less than that of their male counterparts. Lerato Mphaka however is a true epitome of a self-driven woman who is not afraid to swim with the sharks. We were privileged to have some time in her busy schedule to talk about her life and career in the tech industry.

Lerato grew up in Roma, Mangopeng, and completed both her Primary and High school education at NULIS. Upon completion she enrolled for a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems with the National University of Lesotho where she passed with first class and received 7 academic excellence awards for being the best student in ICT. The phenomenal Lerato furthered her studies with the University of Witwatersrand, Stellenbosch University, University of Cape Town and University of York St. Johns in the United Kingdom. She is now an information systems professional with a passion for technology and it’s ability to connect people and to foment human effort. Lerato holds qualifications in Information Systems (IS), Client Centric Business Strategy, Project Management, Business Systems Analysis using design thinking methodology and User Experience Design.
