She started mixing in her mother’s kitchen but now Hape Marite Mphale, the former National University of Lesotho student and co-founder of Black Hair Organics which was established in 2015 produces 50 litres of natural hair products per batch in her brand new mini factory.

The reason behind her creation was actually solving a personal problem she had with her hair, “it used to fall off after chemically relaxing it and got some head sores, as a consequence, I did some research on natural ways to help get my hair back again,” she revealed. She created a WhatsApp group after popping a question on her social media asking on how she can solve her hair problem and the response was quite engaging and positive and so, the thought of making her own natural products came just about.

She states that she sees her business’ rapid growth as it sells locally and internationally and she has recently delivered her first order to Switzerland and her dream was made possible by the Ministry of Small Businesses through BEDCO on their business plan competition – that is where her financing came from.
