A 22-year-old Nthateng Joyce Lenka who resides in Mafeteng has won M100 000.00 for her passion of being an entrepreneur.

She entered a competition last year after Basotho Enterprise Development Corporation (B.E.D.C.O) advertised it on their social media pages which was meant for enhancing youth businesses to share ideas. She said that the competition was for all kinds of entrepreneurs with businesses that were already operating. Nthateng revealed that she won because of the guidance she got from B.E.D.C.O.

“Back in high school, I started selling candies and mango salad and besides, I sold some of the products from the project which we pursued in high school; however, that did not end there because during the holidays, I continued to sell hot-dogs and apples on the street, hence I loved being an entrepreneur,” Nthateng emphasised. She is a final year student at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology studying Retail Management.

Nthateng told Finite magazine that she wants to see herself as a well-known entrepreneur who gives back to the communities by offering jobs to Basotho youth. She also articulated that young girls should not depend on other people; they must learn to stand out for themselves and they should hold on to their dreams and develop their own businesses.
