MAPHARISA BAGS AN AMBASSADOR ROLE

Born and raised in Mafeteng district, ‘Maneo Mapharisa – the founder of Girls Coding Academy and computer artist, has recently landed herself an ambassador role in the Google Women Techmakers and is the lead organizer of Google Developer Group Maseru.
Google Women Techmakers was initiated to celebrate women in Information Technology (IT) and provides visibility, community and resources for women in technology. “I applied for the internship and got admitted; I became the ambassador of Lesotho with the skills I have and my track record was an added advantage as I am already empowering women,” Mapharisa said.
For the first time in October, Lesotho will hold the event (Hackathon), in collaboration with India and Mapharisa being an organizer with the Indian ambassador. The idea of this event is to bring budding bright minds together and to provide them with a real-world business need, “India has a more advanced technology and collaborating with them will be very helpful to us,” she declared.
